Our cameras caught the exclusive first glimpses of the star kids in character while on the film sets. The four, who will be making their Bollywood debut with this musical, were on the film sets for a look test.
Akhtar, the director of critical hits like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and ‘Gully Boy’, will helm the coming-of-age story that will introduce the teenagers of Riverdale to a new generation in India.
Last November, Zoya announced the new project saying, “I am super excited to have the chance to bring The Archies to life. It was a large part of my childhood and teenage years. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous.”
She went on to add, “I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic and yet resonates with the young adults today.”
Unlike the American teen drama ‘Riverdale’, this new adaptation will get a ‘Desi’ twist.
Over the past months, the director has been closely working with her young actors to get them ready for the shoot. From heading out on dinners to accompanying the bunch to dance class, the director is making sure these young talents put their best foot forward for their debut production.
Previously, Ibrahim Ali Khan, the son of actor Saif Ali Khan, was also linked to the project, however, it is unclear if the role has been passed on to Vedang.
