Has this ever happened to you? One day you sign in to your Instagram account, and all of a sudden, the whole thing has been reset.
You can’t even log in to your account anymore because someone else is using it now, and they have likely changed all of your passwords so that you cannot regain access.
If this has happened to you, we have some advice on what to do if your Instagram account gets hacked and how to prevent it from happening again.
What If My Instagram Account Gets Hacked?
If your Instagram account is hacked, it means that someone else has taken control of it. To help protect yourself, make sure you have a strong password and that two-factor authentication is turned on.
Even then, sometimes hackers are able to get through and take over an account anyway. What should you do if that happens?
Should you be worried about what they might post while they’re in control of your profile? Here’s what we would do in a situation like that! (Link to my account).

How To Protect Yourself From Getting Hacked Again?
If you’ve already been a victim of a hacked account, there are steps you can take to avoid it happening again. Make sure all your passwords are strong and complicated.
If there’s even a chance that someone could guess one of them, get rid of it and makeup something new.
Also, don’t reuse old passwords on other accounts—if a hacker manages to crack one password, they might try others associated with it. (Read about how one password was linked to more than 600 million email addresses.)
Finally, enable two-factor authentication for every site that supports it. It’s another layer of security that makes it harder for hackers to access your information.
It requires you to enter a code sent via text message in addition to entering your username and password, which makes hacking much more difficult.
In 2014, celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence were hacked because their iCloud accounts were compromised by an Apple employee who had access to these accounts but allegedly did not know what he was doing.
The best way to protect yourself from getting hacked is still to make sure you use strong passwords and turn on two-factor authentication wherever possible.
But there’s no guarantee against getting hacked—even when using good security practices—so be prepared by having a plan in place in case it happens again!

Common Reasons For Getting Hacked?
What if someone hacked into my Instagram account? Why would they hack me, and how could I stop them from doing it again?
There are three main reasons that someone might try to hack into your Instagram account:
A) They want access to all of your private photos,
B) They want access to more information about you that they can use for further hacking attempts
C) It was a simple hack attempt gone wrong.
The first thing that should happen is fixing any damage done by changing passwords and deleting anything too personal. Try changing up your password in other accounts as well.
If something doesn’t seem right with one of them (for example, suspicious phone calls), then change those passwords as well. Afterward, make sure to check out your security settings on Instagram.
You can set a two-factor authentication which will require a code sent via text message every time you log in on an unrecognized device.
For added protection, turn on Login Verification which will send an email every time someone logs into your account from an unrecognized device. These two features combined greatly reduce the risk of getting hacked again!
If you feel like there may be some other malicious activity going on, don’t hesitate to contact Instagram immediately. You can report phishing attempts directly through their site as well.
Remember that your best defense against being hacked is knowing what to look for. Don’t click links from people you don’t know, even if they claim to be friends of yours.
Be wary of people who ask for your password, especially over direct messages or on social media sites.
Also, keep in mind that scammers tend to go after people who have lots of followers so beware when accepting friend requests from strangers who follow you! In general, just think before you click and stay safe online!
